Families at the Center of a Connected Community Learning Series

Families at the Center of a Connected Community
Three-Part Series

Apr 30 • 10AM - NOON

What does it mean to create something unique to you and your family? What does it mean to build connections and how do we anchor ourselves in joy?  What I discovered was that …turning outward towards community, rather than sinking into the certainty of the systems, there were people around us waiting.

And we also discovered a lot about our family and our gifts. And when you start sharing those and connecting with others around shared passions and common interests, a whole new world opens up.

~~  Carol Combs, Starfire Family Leadership Network Coordinator

On April 16, 23 and 30, Starfire will host a three-session education series via Zoom for families and providers. This interactive series will demonstrate how to become the momentum in connecting neighbors to neighbors and individuals to their communities.

Participants will:

  • Recognize families as the center of inclusion.

  • Understand the process that led to Starfire’s support of families.

  • Discover how families can build a community around an individual with disabilities.

  • Hear firsthand from families in how they connected with their communities.

  • Gather information on raising funds for large, community projects.
